We're Full Term! {39 Week Bumpdate}

05 June 2014
Tomorrow (well, actually, today) is the last day of school, and I've made it all the way to the end! God's timing is so perfect. It's 4:30 AM and I haven't been able to sleep since about 2:00...ugh! (#pregnancyproblems) I figured this would be a great time to share my final "bumpdate!"
Did you know that full term is now 39 - 41 weeks? I always thought it was 36 or 37 weeks, but the definition of full term changed about 2 years ago. Anywho....I'm glad to know that my little boy is full term!

Due Date: This Sunday, June 8th...like 3 days away. As of right now, baby is measuring right on time and has dropped, but still no dilation or effacement. Doctor thinks I'll be going past my due date.

Gender: Baby Howard is a boy! Read all about the gender reveal here. Baby Howard finally has a name too...you can read how we arrived at his name here.

Food Cravings/Aversions: I definitely crave sweets. One of my favorites is shaved ice from Bahama Bucks! Pineapple is my favorite flavor thus far. Thanks, Brittany, for introducing me to the best shaved ice ever! It's quite the oxymoron, but hubby and I often walk around a nearby park with our Bahama Bucks. I guess my pregnant belly would reveal that we're not trying to exercise with snow cones in hand!
Weight Gain: As of today, the number on the scale has increased a total of 27 pounds. Normally, weight gain is not something that I get happy about, but I am very pleased with this number!

Clothes: While I still wear some of my non-maternity clothes, I can't stand to wear anything restricting right now. I lean towards skirts, maxi dresses, and leggings. I haven't worn shoes in about three weeks. I'll spare you a picture of my swollen elephant feet/ankles.

Purchases: I feel like I've bought so much, there's too much to even try to name. I've had three baby showers, so friends and family have helped out a lot when it comes to preparing for our little one. Some of my favorite purchases are:

Dr. Seuss Prints by Sunshine Prints..I was motivated to emphasize reading somewhere in the nursery after I was gifted great books by my co-workers. I was so pleased with the prints that were customized to match Evan's nursery.

Project Life Album by Becky Higgins...I love scrapbooking, but rarely make the time to do it. I heard about Project Life and the simplicity of building a scrapbook without cutting and gluing and I was sold. As I complete some of the pages of Evan's baby book, I'll be sure to share. Here is a little video that explains the process:

Baby Prep: We've attended Breastfeeding, Infant CPR, Baby Care Basics, and Prepared Childbirth classes. Although, hubby didn't necessarily want to attend, he was a great partner and learned lots along with me.
I also finally packed a hospital bag.

And hubby installed the car seat!

Researching: I'm back on the cloth diaper kick. At my 28 week bumpdate, I explained that my reality is that both I and my husband are too lazy to take on the extra loads of laundry. Well, after not receiving many diapers at baby showers, I thought about the best use of our money when it comes to diapers and reusable just makes sense to me. I'll be doing more laundry anyway, so why not add in the diapers?! I plan to use disposable for the first 4 - 6 weeks while I'm operating out of exhaustion and learning to be a mom. I'll then prep and use 6 - 8 of the cloth diapers I've bought and see what I think and if we can handle it. (My current stash of cloth diapers is up to 28.) I figure if I find it to be too much for me, I can return the others.

In addition, I've been reading up on sleep training and breastfeeding.

Best Moments: It has been so much fun to celebrate with friends and family at baby showers. I am truly blessed to have such amazing people in my life!
Also, I have had the best quiet times with the Lord throughout this pregnancy. This is the most consistent I've ever been in spending time with Him and I am praying that this is only the start of our consistent sweet times together. The devotional I've been using that has aided in this consistency is Waiting in Wonder: Growing in Faith While You're Expecting by Catherine Claire Larson.
This book has been such a blessing as I've been going through my first pregnancy. The devotionals are so timely, linking baby's development to great prayer ideas and scripture. Not only do the devotionals focus on baby, but on mom, her faith, and important relationships like significant other, grandparents, and in-laws. This book has been instrumental in helping to prepare my heart and mind for the addition of our little boy. Now, I just need the author to write a devotional for new moms!

Looking Forward to: Meeting Baby Evan! I can't wait to see him, hold him, and love on him!
